Business Process Improvement- a Simpler Way

IT professionals deal with people and processes throughout their organization. They get a chance to see and understand business at macro level in detail. This gives way to business process analysis. Proper tools and methods help IT groups in process improvement and discovering new opportunities. With the help of these tools, the analyst gets a better understanding of the process simulation and the customer can understand and challenge the changes which results in a better product. A detailed information and a good tool to capture and display this process detail are needed to understand the processes. A small, well-thought-out symbol set supported by an elegantly structured methodology is what Process Mapping method follows and is developed for documenting business processes.
This technique helps to know how the process works step by step and how to record document, email, system, form and so on. Charting processes enables to know how the organization works. Less detailed techniques fail to display either work steps or the records. The newer techniques focus on designing electronic systems and not on the processes themselves and do not follow the basic steps like the flow of records or the steps taken by people to process them. Thus, the process improvement gives the impression that the flowchart comprises of a few boxes with superficial work descriptions connected by arrows. But the details remain there; mere ignorance cannot deny its details. Using detailed process charts gives better results and saves time. Powerful libraries of charts provide genuine transparency of those processes. Process library helps in training new employees, speeds the process of auditors, training employees who have been promoted or transferred, provides information required to institutionalize continuous process improvement, and meets the requirements for certification like ISO, Sarbanes or Oxley. Process simulation software helps in business process improvement.
